CAMERONS!! the OAs, the cold air, the nature..

LOCAL MISSION TRIP!!! i actually didn't sign up whole heartedly....because i knew that would use up some of my money saved up for the Cambodia mission trip. but in the end i did. something told me i should go.
preparations was pretty rushed and last minute, as everyone was busy with tests and assignments. but we made it.

the drive: was FUN!! first time driving up a highland!! a REAL WINDY one too!! good experience. hehe... and auds' car is really nice to drive up. easy to handle & zippy.

checking in: after eating in the town (ringlet) we followed uncle isaac to the place we were gonna stay in - Winterhome. mich, celine & i sat his TRUCK up from town to the place. BOY was THAT an experience!!! the trip was bumpy. we were standing at the back of the truck. the icy wind was freezing our asses off.. lol... and driving UP the hill to Winterhome was like sitting (more like standing) on a roller-coaster ride. the 3 of us didn't once stop laughing the whole drive there. must've been high on the coldness & excitement.
when we reached the place... whoooaaaa.... are we sure we're on a mission trip? feels more like a vacation. the house was beautiful...surrounded by forests and a lake.. it had a fireplace too (but not used). it was very antique in a way... old and beautiful. even the BATHROOMS look so antique.

visiting the Orang Asli people:
there's too much to mention. it was beyond what i expected. we could only see 1 or 2 houses from the main road. the REST of the houses were built along the way, down the hill (i don't know how to explain this). the children ran around barefooted, with such familiarit with the place. i was so scared some of the little ones would fall down the "cliff". but none did. they moved around much more easily than us.
the people welcomed us warmly. the kids stared at us with beautiful big wide eyes. cutting the long story short... the children were shy but obedient and responsive. they did everything we asked them to. the thing that caught me off guard was the fact that most of them didnt understand us. lol....i was wondering why some of them didn't answer me; they just giggled and talked to each other. then only did i find out they weren't speaking BM. they spoke their own orang asli language. ;P
ADORABLE!!! they are SOOOOO ADORABLE!!! and good.. they don't cry when they fall. they keep quiet when we're talking. they look after each other (brothers & sisters)....their bond, i believe, is so strong.

the adults...we visited them in their homes & ministered to them on sunday during their service. their houses are made of wood and bamboo....mostly of which were built by 1 person only. there are holes everywhere...the floor can cut if not careful. & the houses are the size of one master bedroom or smaller. with 8 people living in one!!! bedroom, kitchen, hall, everything is within that lil space.
their lives are so simple....they have so little. money & food is scarce. they can hardly sleep at night due to the cold. and yet, im sure they complain less than us. we have EVERYTHING if seen from their eyes. and yet we have SO much to complain about. this trip really reminded me to be thankful for everything....coz God has given me so much!
even though they have so little, they gave us gifts - a "sumpit", a pokok ayamas each...they're just so generous and wished they could give more. we had to keep saying it's okay... we didn't want anything.
i really hope i can return there. my heart melted when a makcik cried as we were departing. she said "balik lah sini....tinggal dengan makcik....makcik rindu..." and she was hugging us...and kissing our hands... :(

one more thing..the nature.... was indescribable...went hiking to our morning devotion place. and the scenery just took my breath away.

"Almighty God...Your creation is SO beautiful!! we could never thank You enough.... and Lord, i pray that You will always watch over the orang asli's....protect them & envelope them with Your love and peace...and fill them with Your joy...so that they will be without lack because they live in You....in Jesus' name....amen! "

p/s: the team was fantastic!! Ken, Johnson, Kae Ee, Kevin, Julian, Alvin, Audrey, Celine, Michelle, Melisa...everyone had something to offer... it was a pleasure working with u guys!!! KEN, u were a GREAT LEADER!! thank you..
